Muira Puama is a bush that grows in the Amazon jungles. The root and bark are both medicinal. Muira Puama is an understory tree in the Amazonian rainforest. The bark and root are employed in the traditional herbal practices of the jungle. Also known as “potency wood”, Muira Puama has long been used by the Amazonian people to manage a variety of age related conditions and stimulate libido in both men and women.
Studies show Muira Puama may prevent and restore memory loss and improve cognitive function. It also is incredibly therapeutic for central nervous system related problems. While primarily working on the physical body, Muira Puama is a potent ally for the emotional body.
To make as a tea, bring water to a boil, add 1-2 tsp bark per serving, and let simmer for 20 minutes. Strain and enjoy.
Other Uses: Infuse 2 oz of root in 12 oz of your favorite carrier oil for a therapeutic massage oil in treatment of nerve and muscle issues. Alternatively, make into an infusion by adding 1 oz of root to 2 quarts of water and let simmer for 15 min. Strain and add to a warm bath for pain relief and relief of sore muscles.
Can also be made into a tincture for concentrated benefits.
