About Product

We are excited and grateful to provide these gorgeous handmade tepis from a Shipibo artisan family featuring chontawood for good fortune and self-actualization. It is said that when one of these pieces calls to you, it signifies that the prayer of the specific piece resonates with the vibration of your soul’s blueprint. You are being called to support you in deepening within the specific power or intention that the weaving invokes. This tepi provides for a smooth and clean application. These are high quality pipes that will last many years!

Hapé is a powerful plant medicine used to focus the mind, release negative energies, and connect you with the Creator through deep, restorative prayer. Our applicators take on all the energy that we let go of in each hapé prayer, and so over time, they do start to carry this weight.

That is why it's important to cleanse your applicator regularly. You can do so with sage or copal, or by using one of our healing lotions and applying a special prayer for cleaning.

Even so, there comes a time when our applicator has completed its service. It often synchronizes with the completion of a period of tremendous spiritual growth, a chapter closing, or the intention to begin to call forth a new prayer into your life. Of course, applicators also wear with use, and so eventually, there comes a point when your applicator is no longer serving its purpose as well as you would like.

When this occurs, it is important to give your kuripe or tepi back to the Earth in prayer as a spiritual offering. You can plant the applicator, along with offerings of sage, tobacco, or cedar, giving thanks for all the prayers it witnessed and supported during its time with you. It can also be given as a form of spiritual payment, asking the Earth Mother to help you let go of something that has been holding you back, or planting it with the intention of calling forth a new way of being into your life.

The Ceremonial Practice of Hapé

Hapé should always be worked with from a place of reverence and respect.

What follows is the recommended ceremonial protocol drawn from indigenous tradition and our ethical stewardship of the medicine.

    Spiritual Connection

  1. 1

    Create Sacred Space

Set up your altar. Light a candle. Smudge with sage, palo santo, or copal. Have a bucket, tissue, and water nearby. Silence your phone. Step into sacred space with intention.

  2. 2

    Set Your Intention

Before touching the medicine, sit quietly. Allow a clear prayer or intention to arise. Let it come from the heart. The plants will hear it.

  3. 3

    Determine Dosage

Begin with a pea-sized amount. Ceremonial doses are larger, reserved for deep purification with an established practice. Start small and build a relationship with the medicine over time.

  4. 4

    Load the Medicine

Spoon the dosage onto your palm. Use the nostril side of applicator to gently flatten it. Scoop half into the pipe. Hold the kuripe to your heart or third eye in a moment of gratitude before beginning.

  5. 5

    Application

Inhale fully and hold the breath. Insert the kuripe into the left nostril. Exhale sharply through the mouth end, blowing the medicine upward. Reload and apply to the right nostril. Apply both sides consecutively with minimal time between.

  6. 6

    Receive & Surrender

Put the kuripe down. Sit or lie in stillness. Do not resist. Breathe through any intensity. Let the plants cleanse.

  7. 7

    Prayer & Meditation

When stillness arrives, enter into presence and prayer. Speak to the Creator, to the plant spirits, to your ancestors. Listen and receive the guidance, insights, and teachings.

How to Care for Your Applicator

Your kuripe or tepi is both a functional tool and a sacred totem.

Thoughtful care keeps the airway clear, protects its handcrafted materials, and supports a clean and intentional practice.

copalera

ROUTINE CARE

Before and after use, smudge your applicator with copal, palo santo, or another smudging agent for spiritual cleansing and purification. Hold it in prayer, reconnect with your intention, and offer gratitude for the medicine and the hands that created it.

After each use, tap out any remaining Hapé and blow through the applicator away from your face. Pass a clean, dry pipe cleaner, soft brush, or cotton swab through the airway to remove loose residue. Dual-nostril applicators should be cleaned through both channels.

aguaflorida

SANITATION & SHARING

A kuripe is a personal applicator and should not be shared, both for sanitary reasons and spiritual hygiene reasons.

When serving others with a tepi, clean all contact points immediately after each recipient. We recommend using an alcohol based healing lotion or agua de florida to sanitize, like the ones we sell in our shop.

pipe cleaners

DEEP CLEANING

If airflow becomes restricted, gently loosen compacted Hapé with a dry pipe cleaner or flexible cleaning brush, working from both ends without forcing the blockage deeper. For stubborn residue, lightly dampen the cleaning tool with warm water, then allow the applicator to dry thoroughly.

Inspect your applicator regularly. If you notice mold, a persistent odor, deep cracks, or residue that cannot be removed, discontinue use. When an applicator has completed its cycle, we recommend giving it back to the Earth as a form of spiritual payment.
