Guarumo, is a tree native to the Amazon rainforest and holds significant value in both traditional medicine and spiritual practices among indigenous Amazonian communities. The leaves and bark of the Guarumo tree are commonly employed for their therapeutic properties. Indigenous healers use Guarumo in decoctions and poultices to treat a range of ailments, including respiratory issues such as asthma and bronchitis, and digestive problems. The plant has anti-inflammatory properties, making it valuable for relieving pain and reducing swelling.
Taken internally, the medicine has a calming effect on the nervous system, bringing beautiful thoughts, relieving headaches, and supporting a meditative state.
Spiritually, Guarumo is often included in rituals and ceremonies. The tree is considered to possess renewing qualities, and it's leaves are used in offerings and sacred practices to restore harmony and invigorate the spirit. The plant is also associated with purification and energy clearing, aiding in the removal of negative influences and the opportunity to start anew.
To drink as a tea, pour 8 oz of boiling water over a handful of leaves. Let steep for 5 minutes before enjoying.
To make as a herbal poultice, heat 2 tsp of preferred oil (coconut works well) in a pan and add 3 tablespoons of Guarumo leaves. Keep on low heat until oil is absorbed but before it starts to burn. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl. Fold herbs into a cheesecloth or cotton bandage until its all wrapped up and herbs are secure. Apply to affected area for 20 minutes.
To add to plant baths, add two handfuls of leaves to boiling water and let steep for 15 min. Strain and add infusion to ready made bath. (Can also mix the leaves in with the rest of the plants and prepare bath together).
