If you are interested in cultivating a smudging practice, our sampler is the perfect introduction to three potent and powerful smudging agents. We encourage you to develop a relationship with copal, palo santo, and sage, through beginning to dialogue with the spirits of each ally. Over time, you will naturally be able to discern which smudging agent to use. Each one has different properties and brings a different energy. It is incredibly supportive to have multiple types of smudging agents to call upon, as each situation may require a different energy. Check out the description below for more info.

Copal is ancient resin used throughout the Americas in sacred practice and ceremony. This white copal comes from the Amazon jungle of Colombia. It is hand harvested in prayer and reverence by local tribes. Copal is perhaps one of the strongest, most potent smudging agents, and should be called upon for deep cleansing, ritual, and moments when you need to cut heavy or dense energies.

Palo Santo or “Holy Wood” is a sacred tree native to South America, used for purification and energy cleansing. Four Visions’ delicious high-grade Palo Santo is ethically harvested, utilizing properly aged wood from trees that have already fallen rather than were cut prematurely. Palo Santo provides an uplifting scent that raises your vibration in preparation for meditation and allows for a deeper connection to theSource of all Creation. It is also said that Palo Santo enhances creativity and brings good fortune to those who are open to its magic.

White Sage is traditionally used as a space clearing plant, to remove negative energy indoors and out. Its fresh herbal fragrance rejuvenates the mind and enhances mental clarity and memory. It is known as the sacred plant of the woman and of the divine feminine. Sage is a power plant best used during potent moments such as full moons, lunar eclipses, and during a woman's lunar cycle.

Copal: Using a recipient such as a copaleiro or cauldren, place a small piece of copal or a pinch of ground powder upon a burning charcoal to let the smoke burn. Smudge your entire home, office, car, or sacred space. It is recommended to do a heavy smudging with all doors and windows of your space closed, and then open the windows and doors when you complete the smudging prayer.

Sage: Light Four Visions sage in prayer and reverence for the plants and use it to cleanse yourself, your home, your workspace, or your car. Speak your prayers into the smoke and allow the smudge to carry your prayers to the heavens. Dialogue with this plant queen and allow her to receive and purify your heart, soul, and mind.

Palo Santo: Light one stick with prayer and intention and use it to bless your space, yourself, your altar, or your sacred objects. A wonderful compliment to your prayer and meditation practice.
